Ehyun is a Deep House, Tech House and Techno artist based in Seoul. Since 2011 he has been releasing tracks on labels such as Quanticman record & Eci korea. He is part of the Wig Out parties thrown at Club Mute in partnership with Kid-B and Giun. Via small and big events he is pushing hard to make the underground korean scene flourish.

디제이를 할 때 가장 즐거운 점은?
사람들과 똑같던지 혹은 비슷한 감정으로 같이 고조되어갈때 정말 흥분 짜릿? 한 기분이 드는때가 가장 즐거운 기분이에요
해외에서 활동해 본 경험은? 한국과는 어떤 차이점이 있나?
캐나다,멕시코,미국 등에서 공연을 한 경험이 있는데, 뭐랄까 결국은 비슷한 느낌이지만 한국보다 조금 더 음악적으로 개방된느낌이 강해요, 한국은 유행을 많이 따라가는 느낌이 적지않게 들더라구요, 물론 아닌 분들도 많겟지만 평균적으로요!
현재 한국의 언더씬에는 어떤 변화가 있다고 생각하나?
아! 한국 언더씬! 많이 발전하고있다고 생각해요! 이제 대형클럽에서도 훌륭한 파티를 쉽게 접할수 있고, 또한 많은 베뉴에서 점점 다양한 종류의 음악과 문화를 기반으로 좋은 이벤트가 전보다 기하급수적으로 늘어나고있고, 이제 페이스북이나 SNS 등에서도 조직적인활동이 많아진 것 같아요.
본인의 음악 색깔을 간단히 정의해본다면?
음..저는 사실 제가 어떤 스타일을 가졌다고 말하기가 어려운것 같아요. 예전에는 난 이런 스타일이야 라고 할수있었는데 이제 그런 벽이 허물어진 느낌이랄까..굳이 색깔에 빗대어 말하자면 파스텔 그린 같은 느낌을 추구하고있긴하지요. 행복하고 깨끗하고 정리된거같으면서고 웅장한? 바람입니다!
요즘 가장 즐겨 듣는 트랙은?
제가 최근 가장 즐겨트는 트랙은 Daniel dexter 의 Why so serious ( Uner Remix ) 라는 곡입니다. 이번 믹스에도 포함되있을 뿐만 아니라, 그 업리프팅 되는 기분은 정말 너무 매력적이라는.
디제이를 시작 하게 된 계기는?
기억하실지 모르겠지만 옛날에 홍대에 Tool 이라는 딥하우스 잭킨하우스가 주장르였던 클럽이 있었는데 거기서 많은 선배들 영향을 받고 시작하게 되어서 캐나다에서 주로 활동영역을 넓혔어요.
프로듀싱이나 작곡활동도 하고 있는지?
네 2011년에 싱글앨범으로 시작하여 지금까지 꾸준히 싱글앨범,리믹스 참여등으로 활동하고있습니다. 근데 요즘은 조금 더 완성도 있는 앨범을 준비하고자 슬럼프 아닌 슬럼프에 빠져있네요 ㅜㅜ, 곧 좋은 앨범 보여드리겠습니다~
언제 틀어도 지겹지않고 좋다고 생각하는 트랙은?(오래된 곡도 상관 없음)
Tommie Sunshine 의 Limit of Your Mind (Tocadisco Beach Club Remix). 아..정말 이곡은 얽혀있는 추억도 많고, 장소만 어울리는 곳이라면 지금도 거침없이 틀어버리는 트랙입니다. 현 언더그라운드 씬에 어울리는 곡은 아니지만, 정말 그때는 엄청난 곡이었어요.

What is your favourite aspect of DJing?
Sharing Emotions with the crowd through the medium of music.
That’s when I’m really having a great time playing.
What do you think is different between the club scene in Korea and other countries?
I’ve DJed in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, among others, and it’s very similar but other places are more open to different kinds of music. Sometimes Korea follows the trends too much. Of course, not everyone is like that.
Do you think there has a been an evolution in the Korean underground scene?
Ah, the Korean Underground scene! Yeah I think there is a lot of change happening. Now, its possible to go to great parties, even in clubs. There are also a lot of new venues that have their own character. There are more and more good events trying to make the underground culture grow and also a lot of stuff happening on the internet that is also promoting the underground scene.
What do you think is your musical color?
Hmmm…its hard to say exactly what kind of style I have. Before it was easy, but these days I feel like its harder to define what exactly my style is. If I really have to choose a color, I would say it has a strong green pastel color to it. Something happy and clean.
What is your favourite track to listen to these days?
These days I love Daniel Dexter – Why so serious (UNER Remix) I put it in this mix and I really like the uplifting feeling of it.
How did you start DJing?
I don’t know if you remember the old club Tool in Hongdae, where they used to play deep house and jackin house? I was inspired by the DJs there and started DJing. Then I went to Canada and it really expanded my career.
Do you also produce?
Yes I released a single album in 2011 and since then I’ve kept releasing singles and remixes. But these days, I really want to have a more complete album, so I’ve been quiet recently as I’ve worked on that project. I hope to show you my album soon.
What is the classic track that you never get tired of listening to?
Tommie Sunshine – Limit of Your Mind (Tocadisco Beach Club Remix) I have so many memories from this tune and if the venue feels right, I always try to play it. It doesn’t fit the current underground scene, but its a really amazing track.
