현재 맹렬하게 인기가도를 달리고 있는 Soulection 크루의 핵심 멤버인 StarRo는 본래 도쿄출신으로 현재는 Los Angeles에서 Soulection 중 가장 현명하고 경험있는 뮤직 메이커로서의 역할을 다하고 있다. StarRo는 소울풀한 일렉트로닉 음악을 만들어내고, 그는 듣는 이들의 절대적이고 완전한 주목을 끌어내는 극도의 끈기와 기교를 가지고 그음악을 만들어내고 있다.
StarRo는 Stevie Wonder, Ryuichi Sakamoto, the Neptunes, Sly Stone, J Dilla and Bill Evans와 같은 다방면에 걸친 아티스트 뿐 아니라 비주얼 아트들과 건축, 자연과 그의 아버지, 그리고 전 세계에서 활동하는 스시 요리사들로부터 그의 창조적인 영감을 얻고 있다.
그는 그의 매우 성공적이고 열정을 담은 ‘White Label EP’ 을 작년에 발표했으며 최근에는 그의 가장 크게 히트한 튠 ‘Lust’를 가지고 활동 중이다. 풍부한 화음과 분위기 있는 멜로디가 짝을 이루는 그의 90년대 중반에서 영감을 받은 R&B 사운드는 국제적으로 일렉트로닉 비트 씬에서 크게 포용되어 왔다. 2014년은 새로 발표한 EP, Rinse와 함께한 Soulection의 노래로 StarRo에게는 성대한 한해가 될것으로 보인다. 그의 첫번째 내한 공연을 Cakeshop에서 갖게 된 것을 무한한 영광으로 생각하는 바이다.

A key member of the blazing hot Soulection crew, StarRo, originally from Tokyo, Japan and now based out of Los Angeles, California is solidified as one of Soulection’s
wisest, and most experienced music makers. StarRo makes soulful electronic music, period. And he makes it with the utmost diligence and craftiness that requires
listeners to participate with absolute, undivided attention.
StarRo pulls his creative inspiration from not only eclectic artists like Stevie Wonder, Ryuichi Sakamoto, the Neptunes, Sly Stone, J Dilla and Bill Evans, but also the visual arts, architecture and nature, his father and all sushi chefs from around the globe.
He dropped the very successful, and passionate, ‘White Label EP’ last year and recently his biggest tune yet with ‘Lust’. His mid 90’s inspired R&B sound, paired
with lush chords and atmospheric melodies, has been embraced by the larger international, electronic beat scene. 2014 looks to be a big year for StarRo with a new EP set to release and Soulection’s recent signing with Rinse. We are pleased to welcome StarRo to Cakeshop for his first Korean appearance.
