MINII housename in the seoul scene supporting party crews such as multi seoul and smooth area is driving the underground scene forward with his music. He is part of the crew Alter Ego.

MINII 는 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 디제이로, MULTI SEOUL, Smooth Area 등등 파티에서 디제이 활동을 하였고 그 외 라운지 클럽에서 활동을 이어가고 있다.​ Alter ego 소속입니다.

이번 골목길을 위한 믹스를 간단히 소개해본다면? 
제가 좋아하는 클래식 하우스 음악들로 믹스를 하였습니다. 일요일 낮에 한강 앞에서 들으면 좋을것 같습니다.

디제이를 할 때 가장 즐거운 점은?
관객들과의 호흡이라고 생각합니다. 제가 좋아하는 음악들을 한 공간에서 함께 한다는 점이 가장 즐겁습니다.

디제이를 시작 하게 된 계기는?
어렸을때부터 음악을 좋아하시는 어머니 덕분에팝 음악을 많이 접할수 있었습니다. 그래서학창 시절에는 락,힙합,전자음악 가리지 않고찾아서 듣다보니 음악을 해야겠다는 생각이자연스럽게 들었습니다. 그러다가 성인이 된후파티 문화가 너무 재밌게 느껴져서 시작하게 되었습니다.

해외에서 활동해 본 경험은? 한국과는 어떤 차이점이 있나?
해외에서 활동한 경험은 없지만 Multi Seoul 파티를 통해그런 분위기를 느낄수 있었습니다. 관객층이 대부분 외국인들이고 음악을 알고 즐기기 때문에 그 피드백이 배가 되는걸느꼈습니다. 한국도 점차 언더그라운드 문화가 자리 잡아가고있다고 생각됩니다. 예전보다 음악을 찾아서 듣는 사람이많아졌고 라인업을 보고 파티를 즐기는 사람들이 많아진것 같습니다.

현재 한국의 언더씬에는 어떤 변화가 있다고 생각하나?
아직 우리나라에는 언더씬이 극소수에 사람들로이루어진것 같습니다. 하지만 극소수에 사람들이자기가 좋아하는 음악을 지속적으로 표현한다면더 많은 사람들이 언더씬에 더 매력을 느낄거라고 생각됩니다.

본인의 음악 색깔을 간단히 정의해본다면?
Classic X Future

프로듀싱이나 작곡활동도 하고 있는지?
비트를 찍어내고 멜로디라인을항상 구상하면서 하고 있는데 아직 대중들에게보여질 단계는 아닌것 같아서 더욱 더 노력할 생각이다.

요즘 가장 즐겨 듣는 트랙은?
James Brown – Sex Machine

중학교때 비보이 크루에 들어서 친구들과 이 노래를 들으며 연습 했었는데 지금도 너무 좋아서 자주 찾아 듣는다.

평소에 싫증을 잘 내는 성격이라 디제잉을 할때도매번 다른 셋으로 공연을 하는데이 곡은 신선함에 끝을 보여주는것 같다.영상도 너무 신선하고 멋지다!

Tell us about your mix for Golmokgil.
I did this mix with a combination of classic house music that I love. I tried to make it good listen for a Sunday on the Han River.

What is your favourite aspect of DJing?
The connection with the crowd. It’s when my music and a location blends that I am the most satisfied.

How did you start DJing?
Thanks to my mom, I was exposed to a lot of music since an early age. Listening to a wide range of styles like Rock, Hip Hop, and Electronic Music, I naturally wanted to do something with music. When I came of age to go to the club, I really loved the party culture so much that I decided to start DJing.

Have you ever performed abroad? If yes any difference with Korea?
I never had the chance to DJ abroad, but I believe I experienced something different with the Multi Seoul parties. Since the crowd is mostly foreigners and music lovers, the feedback you get is way more strong than a “typical” korean audience. I do believe the Korean underground s growing. You see more people actually listening to the music they hear in clubs and more people will choose their destination depending on the line up.

Do you think there has a been an evolution in the Korean underground scene?
As of now, only a minority of people are really interested in the underground scene in Korea. But if these people keep talking about the music they love, I think more and more people will be atracted to it.

What do you think is your musical color?

Do you also produce?
I’ve did some melodies and beats but nothing yet to show to the public. I’m working hard on it!

What is your favourite track to listen to these days?
James Brown – Sex Machine

In middle school, I was in a Bboy crew. I practiced a lot on this track. I still love it and listen to it every once in a while.

I am easily bored of things so when I deejay I always try to renew my set. This song is the freshest song you can make, even the M/V is fresh !
