R2MP is a Multimedia Artist and DJ. His name stands for “Raw Raw Music Project”. It’s one of the different rAWrAW projects that he has been working on since 2007.
R2MP 는 멀티미디어 아티스트이자 디제이이다. R2MP는 RawRaw Music Project의 줄임말이며, 2007년부터 진행해온 rAWrAW Projects중 하나이다. 현재는 자유롭게 예술 장르들을 넘나들며 작업활동을 하고 있다.

해외에서 활동해 본 경험은? 한국과는 어떤 차이점이 있나?
미국, 이탈리아, 독일에서 플레잉 경험이 있으며, 한국과의 큰 차이점은 없다고 생각합니다.
현재 한국의 언더씬에는 어떤 변화가 있다고 생각하나?
크고 작은 움직임들이 활발하게 일어나고 있다고 생각합니다.
언더씬을 사랑하는 사람으로서 감동적인 파티가 많이 생겨나길 희망합니다 !

그림을 그리다가 어떤 계기로 음악을 시작하게 되었는지 ?
평소 작업을 할때 음악을 많이 듣는 편이며, 음악에 대한 관심이 파티씬 – 댄스 – 디제잉순으로 자연스럽게 이동하였습니다. 특히, James Zabiela 2002 Essential mix를 듣고 큰 자극을 받았습니다.
크게 보자면 그림도 음악도 예술이라는 한 범주안에 있는데, 그림을 그릴때와 음악을 만들때 혹은 틀때 교차되는 점이 있다면 ?
지금은 모르겠습니다. 서로 다른 예술 장르들은 서로 영향을 주고 받으며 발전하며, 예술뿐 아니라 사회 전반적인 현상들이 큰 영감이 되기도 합니다. 저는 이 모든것을 관통하는 큰 창의성이 있다고 생각하며, 바로 예술가로서 바로 그 교차점들을 찾는 것이 제 목표 중에 하나입니다.

안녕하세요 ~ 저는R2MP 입니다. R2MP 는 RawRaw Music Project 러러 음악 프로젝트의 줄임말이고요, 제가 아티스트로서 진행중인 rAWrAW Projects러러 프로젝트들 중의 하나입니다. 러러 정신이란, 정형화된 방식에서 벗어나 조금은 거칠더라도 새로운 시도를 지향하는 마음입니다.

What is your favourite aspect of DJing?
When I feel like I’ve become one with people in the crowd.
Have you ever performed abroad? Did you feel a difference with Korea?
I’ve played in America, Italy and Germany. I did not feel much of a difference between those places and Korea.
Do you think there has a been an evolution in the Korean underground scene?
There are a lot of people are trying to push the underground scene here. As one of the big supporters of the scene, I hope there will continue to be more and more great parties.
What do you think is your musical color?
Deep Minimal?

I am not producing at the moment.

What is the classic track that you never get tired of listening to?
I can’t think of one at the moment.
As a painter, tell us how you got involved with music.
I usually listen a lot to music when I work. My interest in music started with just dancing and parties, and I naturally started Djing. James Zabiela’s 2002 Essential mix had a huge impact on me as an artist.
As music and painting are both art, are there any overlapping points between painting , music and djing.
For now, I’m not really sure. I think that as I develop as artist in each field they will all continue to influence one another.
Each genre’s ability to influence can have a big impact on not only art itself, but on our society as a whole.
There is a huge creativity road passing through all of these things and one of my goals as an artist is to find these overlapping points.

My name is R2MP. The name is short for RawRaw Music Project.
R2MP is one of the sub-projects on the rAWrAW Project that I am working on at the moment.
The RawRaw spirit is about finding new ways to create by deviating from standard patterns of the times, even if sometimes the result can be raw.
